Autumn Stag Tattoo by pallanoph Autumn Stag Tattoo by pallanoph
First and foremost, before anyone asks: Please, please please: do not use this for your own tattoo. This was a commissioned piece, and I'm fairly certain she would like to keep the art personal. Thank you for understanding.

Secondly, no, it's not intended to be a pokemon. ._. It's nothing more than an unfortunate coincidence I discovered after the fact. To be honest, I don't find shouting pokemon names at me to be cute, and I would really rather you keep said comments to yourself. (Is that really so much to ask?) If you do insist on emptying your lungs on the name of some poke-beast, please unwatch me and pay visit to the multitudes of artists who specialize in said critters. Please.

Now that that's out of the way, an autumn-themed stag tattoo for ~ash-wolf I'd already posted the inked lines, so here is the final! I have nearly forgotten how to paint (at least with watercolor) so forgive my issues with color, and I can only hope my eyes are correct in that it is not so bad. D: Autumn is my favorite color palette, too!

Watercolor and acrylic ink on 140 lb cold press watercolor paper, 9x12" (22.86 x 30.48 cm)

Commissions are still backed the eff up, so they may as well be closed because no one in their right mind would wait so long. Just FYI.

If critters like this existed, though, hunting them would cover so many things needed. They're edible, and you can use their antlers for... chairlegs, maybe? Or firewood, if nothing else. :giggle:

Then I imagined this was not an ordinarily sized whitetail, and pictured that the tree antlers were actually full sized trees. Yikes!

To the DA Community: I'm a big fan of  Pokemon, but seriously people, comment on the art rather than the design? the antlers are the only similar thing.
Respect the artists wishes and please don't argue with what he/she was commisioned to do.
Shut up and appreciate the amazing artwork.

Heheh, I appreciate the fact some of you fine folks know where I'm coming from. There will always be spammy, useless comments, but it's good to know there are people willing to comment on the art itself! :aww:

(Sometimes I wonder if people refute my artist's statements to see if they can get a proper rise out of me. :XD:)

Sometimes you've got to be amazed by coincidences. By the way that's a pretty good water color.

It's traditional art... so did you use watercolor? If so did you do a layered wash?

Yep, watercolor. I do layered washes, but due to my impatience, they often get a bit muddied. :XD:

I understand your description, even though I'm a fan of Pokemon.

Anyway, I really like this.
I like the leafy antlers and the colours are gorgeous. :)

Oh my gosh, this is beautiful... I love the depth you put into the leaves. And the face is absolutely gorgeous. <3 I actually didn't think of a Pokémon the moment I saw this; I just loved the art. :)

By the way, the idea of a deer with trees as antlers is by NO means a Pokemon creation. This theme has been utilized throughout countless generations of artwork and is not unique to the Pokemon franchise. Perhaps some of your watchers don't realize that, and that is unfortunate. It's a fantastic theme at any rate, and your style is just beautiful.

Thanks very much for understanding what I tried getting at in my artist's comments! Unfortunately, too many people don't seem to think I know what I'm talking about in this particular case. At any rate, I'm very glad to have a handful of people that do understand. :)

Why were you arguing about a really nice piece of Art? Personally, I see that there are similarities between this autumn stag and the Pokémon artwork of Sawsbuck and I understand people who point that out, because it was the first thing on my mind when I saw this drawing, but why all the hard feelings on both sides? Does it matter?

I like this idea, no matter where it first came from. The idea of an autumn spirit (or whatever) which looks like this is great and this drawing is just beautiful.

pallanoph keep up the great work! <3
(and sorry for my poor English)

It only matters (a little) because as someone uninterested in Pokemon, I had originally requested that I preferred people not reference them here. I didn't choose the subject, (commission) and this was the sketch that was picked among the many posted. The similarity was an unlucky coincidence, and once I'd noticed, I wrote the comment that stated I preferred that people not repeatedly shout "SAWSBUCK" at me.

I don't wish to be irritated by such trivial things, honestly, but sometimes it gets the best of me. Especially after a few purposely went against my request and said "Yes, it is a Sawsbuck." Not exactly all that polite, in my opinion. Of course, I have no right to control what people say, but as it is my page, I'd stated that I'd really rather not hear about it, and I thought that wouldn't be too much to ask. For some, I suppose, it was. :noes:

So, there's my lame explanation.  Aside from that, thank you! :)

Thank you! As for the final, we shall see. It can be tough to pick the right tattoo artist for any particular job, of course. I'd always figured finding the tattoo artists would be the most daunting aspect of the task!

That would require free time. :3 I did have another autumn themed piece I wanted to make into a series based on seasons, but... too much work. Especially given all the commissions that need doing first!

But of course, if I ever do such a series, I'll post them here.
