Boomerang Dog by pallanoph Boomerang Dog by pallanoph
Sketch commission for =dwuff of one of her many clever species, the boomerang dog. Which, amusingly enough, are more like deer than dogs. :D I think I may have made it look too equine, though... :B

I hope you can tell I had a blast drawing this paranoid critter. It felt like I needed to draw a dozen poses before I settled on this, and I had wanted to push perspective more (and failed). Instead, I settled on shadow practice. Just a little!

If he's hard to see, it's working. (The camouflage, that is.)

I still have a couple more of these, then hopefully I'll start color work/commissions again.

This reminds me of a zebra and you did a good job on the markings.

Thanks! The pattern was a feat, given the shadows I'd worked with... So I'm glad it worked out in the end! :D

Thankies! I'm forcing myself to work harder on it by switching to darker leads. I'm honestly afraid of stark shadows, which is ridiculous.

I thought it seemed a bit different! I do like the denseness of his front--with the dark shading. Your effort shows!

But it is, it is! :D

I can almost hear his pursuer yelling in the distance, "Now where did that bugger get to?"

And thank you!

This is pretty cool :3
I really admire the shadow work on this and the clear shape...! I think the tree branch falling to the left of the picture is a tiny out of place, but that's all I could find to critique.
Now I shall hunts your gallery and look at your other drawings and be jealous.

Oh, it's meant to be an herbivore... I'm just too accustomed to drawing horses. Thanks!
