Bretonnian Commission Sketches

Description

A couple of more finished sketches for ~Riitual's commission, based on Warhammer's Bretonnian knights. It's been a looooong time since I've attempted any traditional fantasy images. A commission is the best excuse to do one, in my opinion, aside from having a publisher ask it of me. :XD:

The first image with the sea serpent: I want to change its design already. Too... I dunno, predictable. I should throw in some "deep sea" elements, at least as long as they could be plausible. (Lures? Unhinging jaw? A more ugly look in general?) Unless it's fine as is? I'm also unsure of the charger's balking pose. He's not going to back down, but he's really not entirely keen on this whole slippery rocks, ocean spray, and hungry sea serpent thing. :XD: I might try this one from a different angle, since I like the concept. Thoughts?

The second involves a Terrorgheist (essentially a zombie dragon), which I did my own little take on, so I strayed a bit from the original design. (Hope that's okay!) Either way, he was ridiculously fun to draw, though posing the poor knight on that horse at that angle was nothing short of a nightmare. (Knightmare? HUR HUR HURR). I plan to expand on the composition a bit, so there will be a bit more space for mountains/scrub/alpine forest/sky in the final: It's only cropped because I ran out of room. :XD: Eventually I'll decide on the knight's heraldry. Promise!

There are other things I likely wanted to say, but... it will have to wait.

Thoughts and critiques, comments, etc. are more than welcome. Back to work!

Most fine sketches! Your style is deft and lovely detailed.

Do you only do paid commission artworks, or do you participate in volunteer collaborations from time to time? Please pardon me asking, but would you by any chance be interested in helping out the volunteer project known as the Ninth Age (T9A for short: www.the-ninth-age.com/ )? It is the spiritual successor of Warhammer Fantasy, run by 300+ volunteer contributors all tinkering in their spare time, and it aims to go even further than Warhammer did along the paths of historically based dark fantasy smörgåsbord setting: i.imgur.com/dlmQkB6.jpg

For one thing, T9A is the perfect way for what used to be Warhammer fantasy fanart to instead become official artwork for an emerging setting, and thus gain much more widespread exposure.

Moreover, T9A is always welcoming artists who want to join their art team, and your skill and distinctive designs would be great to have on board, should you ever be interested in joining and help develop this setting by putting your own distinctive mark upon its art pool. If you would by any chance be interested in donating old artworks of yours, then here is a quick guide for T9A gallery upload of art contributions: i.imgur.com/ORLCncV.jpg

I can get you in E-mail contact with the head of their art team, if ever you're interested.

At any rate, splendid artworks! Evocative to boot, and detailed like a dream. Have a nice day. :)
