Description
I know everyone uses this excuse, but woah, my scanner sure did bounce some weird colors. I notice it only does this when I'm using colored pencils on a colored ground, so maybe there really is something to it! I did my best with photoshop to match the original (which has heavier violet/indigo tones in there as well) and tried not to throw the whole thing off.
Anyway, here is a portrait commission for the wonderful `CricketWings of her lovely character Dilirium. I really strove to capture her carefree and whimsical behavior, which is hard to do in a horse face and make it seem natural! I wanted to throw in some of her connection with the stars, so I snuck in some nebular elements around her: they're more noticeable in the original, of course.
I think this is the fastest I've ever completed a commission. I think I work best on portrait commissions or something. (I'm lazy.) I also love the color blue, so that helps even more, aside from Dil being delightful to draw.
To `CricketWings: Let me know what you think, or if you'd like to see anything changed/added, and I'll see if I can fix it.
Materials: Derwent, Caran d'Ache and Prismacolor pencils on Canson Mi-Teintes pastel paper.
