A landscape. With not a critter to be seen, anywhere. World is ending.
An explanation is probably in order: this was my christmas gift to my family, back home in Iowa. This is their view from one side of their "hill." Maybe I'll do another scene from the other side of the house, on a bright sunny day... provided they use their new camera to take higher quality images. Let me just say it was a bit tricky to work from a rather blurry and low resolution 4 x 5.5" photo. NOPE NOPE NOPE.
I'm far from being a landscape artist. I obviously need practice, and this is far from praise worthy. I hope it's just good enough. Maybe if they don't stare too hard at it. At any rate, I decided my gallery could use something a little different, so here it is. (For the record, you're not obligated to fave it just so I feel better.)
Watercolors on Arches 140 lb hot pressed watercolor paper. (I killed it.)
This is amazing, and I didn't expect it. I've been wanting to do a landscape too but every time I try it comes out pretty bad. I have norerence either lol
Wow, I gotta tell ya, this reminds me of one time I was down in southern Minnesota. It was spring time, we'd slept in tents, when we woke up at first light everything was frosty, foggy, misty, and wow does this remind me of that beautiful morning. *claps*
Love the fog and the sky. The hillsides could use some more multichroma, even though it's green, I think some other colors in the green might make it feel less flat there.
Agreed on the multichroma in the grass. For whatever reason... be it my heavy handedness, the paper, or some other reason, I couldn't get much done with those dark washes, even though I wanted more bluish hues in there. D: I seem to have bad luck with dark washes.
not just because I love you or anything
Thanks!
