HOLY DOUBLE UPLOAD DAY. :omg: My profound apologies. :XD: I figured my 5,555 kiriban catchers had waited long enough!!!! :XD:

Anywho, this is ~KJDSTJME's Matchitehew. :D Interesting mixed beastie that I found quite fun to draw. (Despite the fact that I rarely manage to draw wolf heads, heeeheeee!) As a result, I had a whole mixed bag of anatomy practice. Which is always good!

Look. I ALMOST attempted a bit of background. :XD:

Graphite tinted in photoshop, 9"x12" inches.

Beautiful work - I love how many creatures I can identify in this design, and the muscular definition is wonderful :heart:

Beautiful :) Great job on the mixed anatomy, especially!

If I may for once offer a small critique on the wings, I hope you don't mind ^^; From what I've read/seen, on the underside of the wing the feathers at the top of the wing overlap the feathers lower down, whereas here you have the feathers at the top being overlapped by the ones lower down. Erm I don't know if that explains it very well, but basically you just have the way the feathers overlap reversed, so what is supposed to be the underside of those wings looks like the top side instead. It of course isn't a huge thing (I almost didn't notice) but I thought I'd point it out.

Here's a photo reference I found to help explain: [link] You can see how the feathers at the top overlap the ones lower down, instead of the other way around.

As far as I've seen this is true for all bird's wings, but I could be wrong, so feel free to look at some others or something if you want (and if it's even that big of a deal :XD:)
Oh, one last note. Looking at it again, it looks like you only mislayered the secondary feathers, while the primaries appear to be layered fine. Anyways this drawing looks great nonetheless ^_^

I definitely don't mind your critiquing, you know how I love to hear it!  Especially since you're so RIGHT!!!! And it's so funny I goofed here, seeing as how I spent most of last month (and will be doing the same up through November, likely) working on images that were laden with wings. I only made a smallish mistake on one of them for that project (oops, too late now!) but ah well. :D

While I'm at it, thanks so much for the awesome reference shot. I own a visual guide on birds that's pretty extensive, but it can be tricky to find a clear shot of such feather structures. With dark or barred birds, it can be nigh impossible to define the separations of these feathers!

I seem to only be capable at remember the order of the primaries... it's silly that my brain rarely kicks in and says "Secondaries too!" Maybe I just need more practice! :D

And thank you so much! I'm really glad you pointed it out. :)

Thank you, I'm glad you didn't mind ^^; And I meant to look at some of your other winged drawings but completely forgot, I wasn't sure if this was just a one time mistake so i felt kind of silly :XD:

Haha, of course... which is why I only put it down as being an attempt at a background. :giggle: My skills in that department are more than a little rusty! :XD:

I really like the face and scaly hands. Actually, I think you draw canine faces with more appeal than a lot of other people.

Do you think so? :omg: Considering how many people draw canines on this site... that means a lot.

Suddenly I wonder that, if I were to practice drawing them more, they might lose that appeal!

Sorry for this giggling, it is still very very early in the morning for a vacation day XDD anyway it is a good anatomy study indeed, this character/species of KJDSTJME. You've drawn the right claw in an interesting pose ^^

Ahaha! :XD: I'd actually thought that perhaps we're not seeing anything from this angle because of the likely feline anatomy. Ahaha, I'm not making much sense...

And thank you! :D

I need to do more human torso anatomy practice. Because it's fun! :la: I do really love human anatomy, but for some reason I'm super self conscious about drawing human faces. Like I'm afraid of... failing badly or making them all look alike or something really silly like that. *sigh*

Glad you like it! :D

Holy update spam, Batman! Nahh two pics in a row isn't even bad and I always am delighted to see your postings. Somehow this reminds me works of *AlectorFencer, in all good ofc :) Maybe it's the sketch style or the tinted colouring, idk :o The wings are my fave part of this beast, they look amazing.

I haven't done two in a day since... January '09. Because that was my first month here and I was a little bit insane, to say the least. :XD:

Hmmm! Now I'm wondering about that, too. :D *thinks* I do rather like how the wings turned out, and I'm glad they look alright to you too, as all I've been working on right now seem to involve wings. :faint: So many feathers. Sooooo many....

This is a really solid sketch. The ruffles of the neck fur into the hair line of the chest really draws the piece together. The chest is nicely drawn and I lovelovelove the nice defined feathers of the wings. The "hands" are probably one of the best parts of it though, they seem to show more expression then the face in the subtle finger movements. Great work!

Ahahahaaa! :giggle: But I'm glad someone's enjoying the sketches! I feel guilty for not having done a finished piece complete with epic background in like... forever. But right now I'm hating even the thought of drawing out a background. BAD. BAAAADDDD!!! *tuts self*

Yessss, you must find out howwwww and when!!! :omg: :giggle: It's Cricket's fault, of course. :XD:
