I present to you an accidental piece. If you can even call it that.
I was testing out removable masking fluid weeks ago in preparation for the current large commission. Before destroying a valuable piece, however, I figured it'd be wise of me to see how the new material acted on a scrap of the same paper. I grew bored and threw down pigment on the masking fluid scribbles, and found out, much to my surprise, that if I put a little watercolor here and there, I could make some weird bird things. And so it was. RAINBOWBURDS were born.
Why the rainbows? Who can resist pure out of the tube watercolors? Besides, cadmium pigments are so TASTY. I mean that in the verbal sense, kids, don't eat them. (Like kids have cadmium pigments just laying around, HA.) Speaking of, these colors are almost entirely unaltered from their original state. I only brightened up the white of the paper.
(And if you want to know, this is literally just me consoling myself because my skills with digital are abysmal. I am pretty thoroughly jealous of almost everyone.)
I will offer up the original for sale, if anyone is interested. Just send me a note and we can discuss!
Winsor and Newton's artist's watercolors, removable masking fluid on Arches hot press 140 lb paper. Roughly 5 x 7" (12.7 x 17.78 cm) Full size is just a hair smaller than the original. It's easy working small!
