Romeo's Elysium

Ahem. *coughs* First, I must apologize for all of the people I need to get back to, and that I still have to address my notes. I'll get to them at some point.

Second, I must apologize to *kalmanen for the amount of time it took for me to complete this piece. Did I mention how slowly I work? (There's no excuse for it, so I must get better at working more efficiently!) She commissioned this piece to commemorate her sister's beloved Irish wolfhound, Romeo, and wanted me to include a pallanoph reincarnation of him. So I have to say I'm quite honored to have my own creations included in such a tribute. Might I also say how much I adore Irish wolfhounds? Such amazing animals! The two spirits manifest are here, frolicking in a sort of Elysium, an eternally sunlit meadow.

That aside, this piece was something I really wanted to get just right, especially given the challenge I provided myself with: I'd never encountered such difficulty painting a light colored animal before! *gasp* The background was easily the most relaxing part.

So, I really hope this looks alright to you, *kalmanen. Thank you so very much for your patience... you should have thrown so many bricks, because I totally deserved it!

Golden brand acrylics and watercolor on Arches hot press 140 lb watercolor paper, 14" x 17" (35.5 x 43 cm) I have no idea how many hours this took, so I'm afraid I can't furnish you with an answer. Will "forever" suffice?
