Raven Portrait no. 2

Hmmm, yes.

Portrait no. 2 of a raven on basswood, this one was done while I was at the St. Paul Art Crawl this weekend. That's right, I was sitting at a borrowed card table in front of my wall of work for sale, painting this and getting stares and being crushed sporadically by various groups of people trying to get a better look. Don't worry, they were fairly decent considering, and tried not to disturb me overmuch. I work fine regardless, I just worry that my responses didn't make all that much sense!
On that note, there was a woman, who, after admiring the rest of my work, saw that I was working on this, and became obsessed with it, to the point of considering buying it. I told her that she could definitely work something out with me as far as payment plans were concerned. She agreed that it would work well, so we arranged a deal. So it happened that this was sold and is being paid for. Hooray! So that made my day.

Like the last one, this is India ink, watercolor, and acrylic on basswood. I think the feathers look a lot more realistic on this one, so it goes to say that practice can make a world of difference.

Background is still a bit iffy as far as fields of color breaking up the space are concerned. I'm still working with it. As always.
